  Bioinformatics Scientist in Taiwan
  The Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan enthusiastically invites applications for the position of a non-tenure-tracked Assistant/Associate Research Specialist position in Bioinformatics. We are looking for a highly motivated bioinformatics scientist who will be responsible for providing bioinformatics expertise in the areas of data mining, data integration, and bioinformatics training. PhD in biochemistry/molecular biology/biotechnology/ bioinformatics, with 1+ years of bioinformatics experience is required.   Postdoc position available
  The bioinformatics core facility is seeking for a self motivated post-doctoral researcher for bioinformatics research affiliated with the Bioinformatics Specialist. Candidates should have sound publications in the area of bioinformatics with good programming skills in PERL, JAVA and/or C. Familiarity with statistics or data mining is a plus. • The laboratory of Paul Verslues seeks applications for the position of research assistant/laboratory manager. Primary duties of this position are to handle laboratory organization task such as supply ordering, organization of laboratory stocks and other administrative functions. Remaining time (approximately 25-40 percent) will be research related activities (plant care, database searching, media preparation, PCR).
  
  The primary qualifications for this position are:
  1. Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese and ability to interact with a diverse group of international scientists.
  2. Excellent organization skills and ability to multitask.
  3. Computer skills including familiarity with standard office programs (more extensive experience with spreadsheet and database software would be a plus)
  
  A background in any science-related field with laboratory experience would be a strong plus but not absolutely required. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply but should have some prior experience which can demonstrate organization, attention to detail, and ability to learn on the job.

  Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) and Research Assistant (RA) positions available
  A postdoctoral fellow and multiple research assistant positions are available immediately at the Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology, Academia Sinica (Wang Lab, Rm412). The main research interest of laboratory aims to understand the functional roles of phytohormones in plant growth and development. The reference plant, Arabidopsis thaliana, is used as the primary experimental organism.
  
  The successful candidates will participate in one of the funded research projects; (1) to identify and characterize functional components of the SCF (Skp-Cul-F box) complexes in hormone signaling pathways; (2) to probe the mechanistic role of plant hormone ethylene in responding to environmental stress signals, and (3) to establish an inducible system to modulate ethylene response for post-harvest improvement of economically important crops.
  
  Applicants must have a strong background in one of the following fields, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology and biochemistry. Experience in plant biology is preferred but not required. Candidates with a strong motivation to develop a research career are encouraged to apply. Applicants for PDF should have a recently completed doctoral degree (within 3 years) in biology, biochemistry or a related field. Applicants for RA should have prior experience in basic molecular biology (DNA and RNA isolation, PCR) and/or biochemical techniques.
